Privacy & Visibility Guide

At Sissy-World, you decide who can see your profile, pictures, albums, videos and blog posts. Different privacy settings allow you to control the visibility of your content and how other members can interact with you.

This guide explains where to find these settings, what each option means and how to change your preferences at any time.

Privacy & Visibility Guide

1. Understanding Privacy Settings

Sissy-World offers several privacy levels. Depending on the type of content, you can choose from the following options:

  • Everyone: The content is available to everyone who is permitted to access that section of the website. For content that supports public access, this may also include visitors who are not logged in.
  • Registered users: Only logged-in members can access the content.
  • Friends: Only members on your friends list can access the content.
  • Noone: Other members cannot access the content. You can still manage your own content.
  • Unlisted: Available for photo albums and videos. The content is hidden from galleries and listings but can be accessed using a special link. See Section 6 for important details.

Important: Privacy settings do not override the website's general access restrictions. For example, visitors who are not logged in cannot access member profiles, profile pictures, photo albums, individual pictures or videos through the regular website.

2. Profile Privacy Settings

Where can I change my profile privacy settings?

Open your user menu, select Edit Profile (the gear icon) and navigate to Privacy.

Here you can manage the following settings:

  • Who can view my profile
Controls who can access your member profile.
  • Who can view my friends
Controls who can see your friends list.
  • Who can view my gifts
Controls who can see the virtual gifts displayed on your profile.
  • Who can view my timeline
Controls who can read your timeline.
  • Who can post on my timeline
Controls who is allowed to post on your timeline.
  • Profile Picture Visibility
Controls who can view your profile picture.

Most of these settings offer: Everyone, Registered users, Friends and Noone.

For Who can post on my timeline, the available options are: Everyone, Friends and Noone.

Which activities appear on my timeline?

Under Show on my timeline, you can choose which activities should appear on your timeline.

The available checkboxes are:

  • New profile picture
  • New friends
  • New blogs
  • New classifieds listings
  • New events
  • New groups
  • New songs
  • New pictures
  • New videos

Uncheck an activity if you do not want that type of update to appear on your timeline.

Note: These checkboxes control timeline activity updates. They do not replace the individual privacy settings of your pictures, videos or other content.

3. Photo Albums & Pictures

You can set privacy preferences when creating an album or uploading pictures. You can also change these settings later.

How do I change an album's privacy settings?

Navigate to:

Top Bar → Pictures → My Pictures → My Albums → Edit Album

The following settings are available:

  • Who can view this album
Everyone, Registered users, Friends, Noone or Unlisted.
    Default: Friends
  • Who can post comments
Everyone, Friends, Noone or Disable Comments.
    Default: Everyone
  • Display on public pages
    On or Off.
    Default: On

The Display on public pages option controls whether the album may appear in supported public listings. It does not override the album's privacy restrictions.

How do I change an individual picture's privacy settings?

Navigate to:

Top Bar → Pictures → My Pictures → My Albums → Edit Picture

The following settings are available:

  • Who can view this picture
Same as album, Registered users, Friends or Noone.
    Default: Same as album
  • Contains adult content
    Yes or No.
    Default: No

Same as album means that the picture inherits the visibility setting of its album.

If an individual picture has its own privacy restriction, the more restrictive setting takes precedence.

Example: If an album is visible to registered users but an individual picture is restricted to Friends, only your friends can view that picture.

The reverse also applies: setting a picture to Registered users does not make it accessible to all registered members if the containing album is restricted to Friends.

4. Video Privacy Settings

You can choose your video's privacy settings during upload or change them later.

Where can I edit my video privacy settings?

Navigate to:

Top Bar → Videos → My Videos → Edit Video

The following settings are available:

  • Who can view this video
Everyone, Registered users, Friends, Noone or Unlisted.
    Default: Friends
  • Who can post comments
Everyone, Friends, Noone or Disable Comments.
    Default: Everyone
  • Display on public pages
    On or Off.
    Default: On
  • Contains adult content
    On or Off.
    Default: Off

The visibility setting determines who is allowed to access the video. The public display option does not override a more restrictive privacy setting.

If a member does not have permission to view a video, its thumbnail may appear blurred with a Private label. The video cannot be played.

5. Blog Privacy Settings

Blog posts have their own visibility and comment settings. You can configure them when creating a post or change them later.

Where can I change my blog privacy settings?

Navigate to:

Top Bar → Blogs → My Blogs → Edit Post

The following settings are available:

  • Who can view this post
Everyone, Registered users, Friends or Noone.
    Default: Everyone
  • Who can post comments
Everyone, Registered users, Friends or Disable Comments.
    Default: Everyone
  • Display on public pages
    On or Off.
    Default: On

Important: A blog post can appear on publicly accessible pages only when both of the following conditions are met:

  • Who can view this post = Everyone
  • Display on public pages = On

If either condition is not met, the post will not be displayed on public pages.

This also applies to the blog's cover image.

If you want your blog to be visible only to registered members or friends, choose the corresponding privacy setting.

6. Understanding Unlisted Content

The Unlisted option is available for photo albums and videos, provided your membership group has permission to use this feature.

Unlisted content is not displayed in general galleries, other members' views of your profile or the website's sitemap.

How does Unlisted work?

When you select Unlisted, Sissy-World generates a special link containing a random access key.

This link is displayed in the album or video editing form. You can copy it and share it with someone.

Anyone who has the correct link may be able to open the album or video, including visitors who are not logged in, provided their visitor group has the necessary access permission.

Without the correct access key, the content cannot be opened and a 404 page is displayed.

If you change the privacy setting away from Unlisted and later select Unlisted again, a new key is generated. Previously shared links will no longer work.

Is Unlisted the same as Private?

No. Unlisted is not a secure privacy restriction.

Anyone who receives the link can share it with others. The access key is also part of the URL and may appear in browser history or other places where links are stored or transmitted.

Unlisted links use a short access key and should not be treated as a secure method for protecting sensitive content.

For content that should only be available to trusted members, consider using Friends. If you do not want other members to access the content, choose Noone.

7. What Other Members and Visitors Can See

Visitors who are not logged in

Visitors cannot browse member profiles, profile pictures, photo albums, individual pictures or videos through the regular website.

Public blog posts and their cover images may be visible when the author has selected Everyone and enabled Display on public pages.

On public pages, member images are displayed blurred without usernames. Clicking these images takes visitors to the registration page.

An exception may apply to Unlisted albums and videos accessed through a valid special link, subject to the visitor group's permissions.

Registered members

Registered members can generally access member content unless the content owner has restricted its visibility.

If access is restricted, pictures, albums, profile pictures or videos may be represented by blurred thumbnails with a Private label.

Restricted pictures cannot be opened in the lightbox, and restricted videos cannot be played.

The content owner's privacy settings determine whether access is permitted.

8. Practical Privacy Recommendations

  • Review your profile privacy settings: Decide whether your profile, friends list, gifts and timeline should be visible to all members or only to friends.
  • Check album privacy before uploading: New albums are restricted to Friends by default. You can change this when creating the album.
  • Review individual pictures: Pictures inherit their album's privacy setting by default, but you can apply additional restrictions.
  • Check video visibility: New videos are restricted to Friends by default.
  • Pay attention to blog visibility: New blog posts are set to Everyone by default. If Display on public pages remains enabled, your post may also appear on publicly accessible pages.
  • Use Unlisted carefully: Anyone with the correct link may be able to access and share your content.
  • Review your settings regularly: You can change the visibility of existing albums, pictures, videos and blog posts at any time.

9. Your Privacy, Your Choice

Sissy-World provides different privacy options because not everyone wants to share the same information with the same audience.

Whether you prefer to connect openly with other members or keep certain content limited to friends, you can choose the settings that best suit your preferences.

If you are unsure about a setting, start with a more restrictive option. You can always adjust it later.
